Philosophy

You know the word philosophy? It is a Greek word which has two parts. The word "sophy" in Greek means wise ; therefore people like Socrates , Plato and the rest of the flock were called Sophist because they were wise men , who thinks out of the box , who were round pegs in the square boxes. And you know all about people who are different and daring to voice their opinions ; they were shunned.

Generations of Mankind have been pondering on how the mind works and how our brain has evolved since the days of our Forefathers. We have plenty of classes today to impart ways of improving our minds , such as NLP for the adults-Neuro Linguistic Programming - populated by the West , or Mental Arithmetic for the kids. We see classes flourish because Malaysians are so interested in gaining a headstart towards developing our minds. But why is it that even though we have such educated people around, we still have unsolved cases such as dirty toilets, littered parks, vandalised telephones , and even late-comers for every possible even in Malaysia? Are we truly seeking to enrich our minds, or are we merely chasing after those "self-improvement" classes as if they are some rallies , to enrich our pockets and to make our namecards look better? Really, shamefully, I must admit as a Malaysian, I could not feel more ironic than when I saw a young adult putting an empty aluminium can on the 4-lane newly-upgraded Jalan Klang Lama before he drove his new Toyota Unser off. I was stunned!!! The general attitude never changed , and this isn't wisdom! This is selfishness . Imagine the spin-off of this *little* event - a van driver did not see the can, then tried to avoid it at the last minute , therefore making a quick swerve to the left of his lane to avoid the can. A motorcyclist did not expect the swerving van, therefore did not break in time to avoid the van. What happens now?

There is something inherently wrong in our society today. Where have we gone wrong?
