Third Day in Singapore - Saturday , 5 /Nov/2004

8am : Woke up. GO online. How to break the habit??

10.30 am: Ordered 2 LARGE Canadian pizza(2 for the price of 1) for breakfast.Delivery reached at 11.45am.I had 4 slices, Carol and Lil each had 2 while Seng had 8! Growing boy la..

Noon : Went out to get return bus tickets at Beach Road. Wanted to get Grassland tickets, but Sri Maju charges SGD 3 cheaper, so we took Sri Maju(SGD 25) instead :) For an even cheaper ride, you can opt to take a public bus across the straits into JB and take a bus from Larkin there. Only RM25 from JB to KL. That's less than half the price!

1pm : Don;t know where to go, so decided to go to some famous tourist attraction. I suggested Ming Village, where they used to have a man-made fort of the dynasty. We headed towards Jurong with a cab.

1.30pm : Reached an Industrial Park , Jurong. There's alot of factories and very few traffic. Quite a deserted place. Looks funny coz I dont remember the fort being situated at such an obscure place. Well, that was 10 years ago, but then .. Definitely not this place? Keep my fingers crossed.

1.35pm : We reached Ming Village. OMG, it's the wrong place!!!!!! There's no such fort as I could remember! The place was a deserted , even dilipated Chinese mansion which sells pottery and artworks probably. It looks dark on the inside and the red giant doors were only half open. One lady which stood at the doorlooked at us with curiosity. She must be wondering why we got there but didn't get down.Sooo PAISEH man. 10 years of memory canot guarantee you permanence. ahhaha... After apologizing to all in the cab, I asked the driver what happened to the tourist site which depicts a famous dynasty in China. He said the place was closed down many many years ago, as its boss went bankrupt. He later sold that park to some filming house. He suggested that we either go to the bird park, the crocodile farm or Haw Par Villa. We decided on the latter.

2.00pm : Reached Haw Par Villa. The colorful 30 feet-long Dragon which I remembered was erected at the entrance of the park was gone. It looked so different now.Entrance fee is waived now.We walked in to enjoy the scenery of the once majestic looking memorial park. What is left now are just statues of yesteryears depicting CHinese folklore and legendary characters such as Journey to the West (the magical Monkey, the perveous Pig,the industrious Sand Monk and the obedient White Horse accompanying their Master Tong Chen on the commissioned foot journey to obtain the Buddha writtings),the 3 gods of Happiness,Wealth and Longevity (Fuk Luk Sau) , the 10 Courts of Hell (Kuai Moon),8 Immortals Crossing the Sea, Lady Kwan Yin (Chinese Madonna) and Buddha himself. A worthy place to visit if you're interested in knowing Chinese folklore stories. You only need to pay SGD 1 to enter the 10 Courts of Hell and the Jade House.
5pm : Headed home to get ready for the party at Sentosa.Reached home at 545pm.Wanted to wear the tube over the bikini, but the tube was wayyyyyy to transparent and tight, so I wanted to wear a t-shirt over it and then wear long hawaiian pants. Arrhhh, kena kutuk by cousins alike saying I look like aunty cos its too old-fashioned! dang! So I said I'll wear the bermuda khakis. Also aunty! Die die die... in the end wore Agnes's spaghetti top and a pair of hot denim pants.Shortest ever in my history.Felt so exposed. My brother in law and my nephew gave me one weird kind of look ... eee..

630pm : Got out of the house , headed for Harbourfront MRT Station.Train was quite packed. As we arrived, we can't see Desmond anywhere so we walked til we reach the bus station at the entrance of Sentosa Islan; the off-limit to pedestrians. Later we took a bus into the island, had dinner and then took another bus to the Tanjong beach where the party awaits.:D

8.30pm : Reached Tanjong beach. Headed directly to the public changing room to lock our bags.We were quite qorried that all lockers might already have been taken by other patrons. Luckily there's still penty to go around when we arrived. No point bringing all those jackets or big water bottles ; you wont be able to carry so much when you dance. At the party, it was still early so we strolled around the beach and checked out what's in store for us. A few rumored facts:i. Attendance at Zoukout Singapore this year : 25000 -30000 people.
ii. 4 stages for party goers: Main Arena (International and local Guest DJs), Mambo(80s and 90s music + love songs) , Trance (pure dance music), and local live band stage.
iii. Zouk dont make money out of this event; at best they only break even.
iv. There's going to be a Zoukouk KL in Genting this coming February.
v.Drinks are fro SGD3- SGD6.
vi. No swimming is allowed. They sealed off the beach and put patrols around the area to prevent drowning.Last year, a drunk patron swam and drowned there.
vii. The Tanjong Beach is a reclaimed land ; sand from Indonesia (very coarse) and coconut trees are from Malaysia(ohh beautiful , hehe)

9.00pm : Yiing arrived! She looked gorgeous, as always..We chatted and took some pictures at the Main Arena.

10pm : Danced at Mambo stage area. After a while , we moved back to main arena.

12am: Tired of dancing. Walked to the locker. We saw that the lockers prepared by Zouk themselves cost SGD 10 / locker. With that money, I can open the public locker 10 times!

1am: Lined up for a drink. I had a tequila. But not shot. Don't feel anything , only a bit hot at the throat and the stomach. Don't feel anything at the head. Maybe it's just dilluted tequila.

2am: Danced at Mambo stage again.Carol got a few uninvited dance partners , hehe... some quite lengchai wan wor.. ;P later two more guys came and joined our crowd.

3am : Time out.Tired. So I had a power nap by sitting on the sand.

355am : Time to dance again at the Main Arena. Timo Mass was spinning. The next one up is Paul Van Dyk!

430am : Paul shows up finally! Yeayy! The crowd went crazy!!! His music is intoxicating.

630 am: At last count , all of us danced nonstop for 2 1/2 hours and counting...

7 am: Sun is rising. We're still dancing! I had to go to the washroom. On the way back, we got ourselves some drinks. I got a VOdka Redbull which was supposed to make me feel energised again; but it made my head spin.... woooOOOooooo...

715 am: Headed home.Long queue going up the bus provided.Luckily service was quick.

745am : At Harbourfront MRT. I was too tired, so I sat on the station floor.Beh tahan lerr.. We headed towards Chinatown for a morning breakfast. I was hoping for a nice , hot plate of chee cheong fun.Alas... when we reach Chinatown, all eateries were still closed. We ended up having only a cup of hot drink each. I find it difficult to stay awake. In the end , we took a cab back to UBI.

  2. Hi Marksmensrea,

I can't possibly verify this rumour, because I heard it from a staff in Zoukout Singapore which has no connection with Zouk KL. There's some other stopries about Zouk but I won't put it here. Anyway if they have a party in Genting Highlands, we won't be seeing people in bikinis I'm sure!
